Today, we have been creating a new department dedicated to Rare Breed Sheep. This is where the idea for Strand & Co really all started with a gift of a rare breed fleece.....the rest is history. Please enjoy browsing. We have many products to go on to this section, although some may take a while as the mill lead time for spinning our own yarn is at least six months. I will let you know when there is something new to browse though. Please click on the sheep to take you straight there!

We have some sad news :-(. Unfortunately due to the extortionate cost of Public Liability insurance just for a one day event, we are unable to offer Spinning Sundays from our home for the foreseeable future. We will try and think of a suitable alternative (perhaps seek an alternative New Forest venue such as a hotel with nice views/conservatory) and will keep you posted of what we find. Any ideas gratefully received! In the mean time we have re-vamped this department as "Events" and we are pleased to provide details of the New Forest Needlework Fiesta taking place in Brockenhurst on the 28th/29th April. Please do come and see us! Also over the next week we will be posting details of two new exciting departments.....watch this space!

Doesn't time fly! We are still adding more products and I apologise for the length of time it is taking. If there is anything you are searching for in particular then please get in touch. We would also like to say a big "thanks" to the people that have looked at the site created so far and for your kind and supportive comments. Its nice to know we have some readers!
We have now added a date on the Home page to show the last date we updated the site so you know we have been working - thank you for that suggestion Hilary who is at The Loom Exchange

We have now entered details of our "Spinning Sunday" on to the site. Come and join us in the picturesque New Forest for a spinning/knitting day/weekend. Our first "date" is Sunday 15th April. Press the "Spinning Sunday" button for the full details including information about our local Bed and Breakfast, suitable if you would like to spend the whole weekend indulging in you craft!. We look forward to seeing you.
You may have thought we had disappeared as we have not posted any news for a while...I am going to be totally honest and say that I had a holiday and left my other half (David) at home adding products to the site! We are currently loading all of the Ashford equipment who have a fantastic range for spinners and weavers suitable for all abilities. We hope you will enjoy browsing.
Whilst I was away (in Barbados) I became acquainted with the Barbados Blackbelly. They have a medium to thick hair - but no wool!!!. No good to us then!
For more information about this breed please click here or go to our link page and look in A Useful Index of Sheep Breeds.
